Effective April 1, 2025, the Hindu University of America (HUA) proudly welcomes Dr. Mahadevan Seetharaman as the new Dean of the California College of Ayurveda (CCA). This transition marks a new chapter for one of the most esteemed institutions of Ayurvedic education in the West.
Founded in 1995 by Dr. Marc Halpern, a pioneer in the field, CCA holds the distinction of being the first state-approved Ayurvedic school in the U.S. Over the past three decades, it has grown into the largest and most respected center for Ayurvedic studies nationwide.
Following its integration into the Hindu University of America in August 2024, the university’s Board of Trustees embarked on a comprehensive search for Dr. Halpern’s successor. While stepping down from his administrative role, Dr. Halpern will continue to serve as a key advisor, consultant, and educator within the CCA community, ensuring continuity and academic strength.
Dr. Seetharaman brings a rich blend of academic and professional expertise. Holding a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minnesota, he also possesses over 20 years of executive leadership in innovative, high-growth organizations within the U.S. integrative health sector. His deep commitment to Ayurveda and strategic insight position him perfectly to guide CCA’s next phase of global influence and institutional excellence.
Founder of Ayurveda Living and a Duke Integrative Healthcare Leader, Dr. Seetharaman shares Ayurvedic health guidance as a certified yoga instructor and nutrition consultant. He also holds leadership positions across several Ayurvedic and wellness organizations, including TAPAS, AAAP, AAYM, and GCAR.
Both the HUA and CCA communities express their enthusiastic support for Dr. Seetharaman as he takes on this pivotal role, reinforcing the College’s commitment to advancing Ayurvedic education and practice on the world stage.
