After an extensive nationwide search, the University of North Carolina Greensboro has appointed Dr. Joyendu “Joy” Bhadury as the new Dean of the Bryan School of Business and Economics. Currently serving as the Interim Dean, Dr. Bhadury will take on the permanent role starting April 1, 2025.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Bhadury shared his excitement about leading the Bryan School, a place he considers his academic home. He emphasized his commitment to fostering student success, enhancing social mobility, and strengthening collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners.
An esteemed scholar in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Dr. Bhadury has made significant contributions to Facilities Location Theory, with over 100 published works. His research has attracted funding from both public agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor and N.C. Department of Transportation, and private corporations like FedEx and GlaxoSmithKline. Over the course of his career, he has secured $1.44 million in external funding through grants and contracts.
Recognized as a Fulbright Program Specialist for 2024–27, Dr. Bhadury has taught in graduate programs across multiple countries, including the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Austria, Germany, Ghana, and South Africa. His leadership skills, extensive research background, and dedication to student success have been widely acknowledged.
Before stepping into his role as Interim Dean in July 2024, Dr. Bhadury served as Dean of the Davis College of Business and Economics at Radford University and as Dean of the School of Business and Management at SUNY Brockport. Additionally, as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research at the Bryan School, he played a key role in securing external funding and expanding graduate program enrollment.
Dr. Bhadury holds a Ph.D. in Management Science with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, earned in 1991. He also completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, in 1986.
Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Bryan School offers more than 20 undergraduate programs, 6 master’s programs, and 4 doctoral programs. Dr. Bhadury succeeds Dr. McRae “Mac” Banks, who served as Dean from 2011 to 2024.
