The G20 presidency of India, conferences, and exhibits that are being conducted here will all contribute to the continued high growth of domestic tourism in India.
On the other side, long-haul outbound travel from India is also anticipated to increase with the arrival of summer in Europe and the US, according to media reports from Thomas Cook (India) Chairman and Managing Director Madhavan Menon.
When questioned if the significant increase in domestic tourism seen after COVID will continue, Menon responded, “Domestic tourism is here to stay, and the reality is that we’re going to see more and more activity in the domestic space without a doubt.”
According to him, one of the primary causes of the increase in domestic tourism is the shift in consumer behavior that followed the epidemic, which included a strong belief in the economy and a shift in consumer behavior toward living in the moment rather than worrying about the future.
Menon claimed that in the past, individuals would likely take one home vacation followed by one overseas. The current trend is different. He said that this did not negate the fact that Indians would be traveling both long-haul and short-haul, saying, “We are not talking about multiple domestic trips as well as short weekend ones too.”
In addition to people’s faith in the economy, he claimed that infrastructure development also serves as a catalyst for growth.
In the future, India would continue to be in the spotlight and draw in more tourists, he claimed, adding that the G20 is merely another government event.
