Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated spy thriller, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, is poised to set the box office on fire. While the official theatrical release is scheduled for March 19, paid preview shows began on March 18, giving fans an early glimpse of Singh reprising his role as Hamza Ali Mazari. Under the real identity of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, Hamza infiltrates Pakistan’s underworld to relay critical intelligence to RAW, while seeking vengeance on those behind attacks on India.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film boasts a stellar cast including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, with cameo appearances from Yami Gautam. Early reviews are glowing, with Ram Gopal Varma comparing the film to a “Sholay x 100” experience, suggesting that even Hollywood heavyweights like Steven Spielberg and Christopher Nolan should watch it. Critics praise the sequel for delivering intense action, emotional depth, and gripping storytelling.
Advance bookings have shattered previous records. Over 900,000 tickets were sold for premiere shows across approximately 12,000 screenings, generating around $5.7 million in revenue from paid previews alone. Due to exceptional demand, theaters are running additional shows throughout the day and night. Even Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir temporarily rescheduled classic screenings like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to accommodate eager audiences.
However, the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions faced delays, leading to cancellation of paid previews in those regions. Cinema chains confirmed that the original Hindi version will screen instead. Paid preview tickets were priced between $2.50 and $10, and could be booked through BookMyShow, Paytm, District by Zomato, or directly at theater box offices.
Director Aditya Dhar urged fans not to share spoilers, stressing the importance of experiencing the film without prior knowledge of key plot points. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences, calling them integral to the success of the franchise. Additionally, following Central Board of Film Certification guidelines, the film trimmed select violent and abusive content to ensure smoother viewing.
As Dhurandhar 2 prepares to clash with Ustaad Bhagat Singh during the Ugadi–Eid festive period, early trends show Singh’s spy thriller dominating advance bookings. With record-breaking ticket sales, a powerful cast, and an action-packed storyline, Dhurandhar 2 is set to be one of 2026’s biggest cinematic hits.
