The national capital is preparing to unveil a series of major development and welfare projects valued at more than $360 million during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations next week. These initiatives will be launched as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) 15-day “Seva Pakhwada” program, running from September 17 to October 2, designed to honor the Prime Minister’s birthday with public-focused initiatives.
Among the highlights, the Delhi Jal Board will introduce 13 projects aimed at improving the city’s water infrastructure. This includes a new sewer network in Sonia Vihar, a Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla, and an Underground Reservoir at Bijwasan. Upgrades are also planned for the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), along with the addition of multiple new sewage and water treatment facilities, as part of an ambitious plan to reduce Yamuna river pollution.
To tackle chronic traffic bottlenecks, East Delhi will see the inauguration of the Nand Nagri flyover. This flyover is expected to significantly cut down travel time for commuters and reduce congestion in one of the busiest parts of the city.
Additionally, the Public Works Department (PWD) will release a comprehensive Drainage Master Plan, designed to address long-standing problems of flooding and waterlogging that paralyze the city during the monsoon season.
Another key initiative highlights women-led innovation. Home Minister Amit Shah will unveil 75 drones developed by students of the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. These drones will be operated by trained women personnel in collaboration with the Delhi Police, enhancing the city’s surveillance capabilities.
Healthcare will also see a major boost with the launch of 101 Ayushman Mandirs on PM Modi’s birthday. Amit Shah will inaugurate five new hospital blocks, including expanded facilities at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Acharya Bhikshu Hospital, Guru Gobind Singh Hospital, and Bhagwan Mahavir Shri Dada Dev Matri Avum Shishu Chikitsalaya.
These projects represent a wide-ranging effort to enhance Delhi’s infrastructure, health systems, water management, and security, aligning with the government’s broader vision of creating a more sustainable and modern capital city.
