Earlier this month, Congressman Pete Sessions and Representative Elise Stefanik jointly announced the establishment of the Congressional Hindu Caucus in the 118th Congress. This caucus, chaired by the two representatives, is dedicated to representing the values significant to the Hindu-American community, encompassing individuals from diverse countries such as India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the United Kingdom,Bhutan, Pakistan, and the Netherlands.
Since its inception during the 115th Congress, the caucus has played a crucial role in fostering connections between the Hindu-American community and lawmakers in Washington, D.C. The Congressional Hindu Caucus advocates for principles including free enterprise, fiscal discipline, limited government, strong family values, and a robust foreign policy stance against authoritarian regimes.
During the inauguration, Congressman Sessions emphasized the significance of the caucus, stating, “The Congressional Hindu Caucus marks a significant step towards recognizing and amplifying the voice of the Hindu-American community in our nation’s capital. We pledge to tackle their issues, honor their contributions, and ensure their views resonate at the highest government echelons.”
Noteworthy members of the caucus include Congressman Andy Biggs, who shares a commitment to advancing the caucus’ objectives, alongside chairwoman Stefanik and Congressman Sessions.
