In April 2024, India’s coal production surged to 78.69 million metric tons (MT) (Provisional), marking a robust growth rate of 7.41% compared to the same period in the previous year, which reported 73.26 MT. Coal India Limited (CIL) achieved a provisional coal production of 61.78 MT during April 2024, reflecting a commendable growth of 7.31% from the corresponding period last year, when it stood at 57.57 MT. Furthermore, coal production by Captive/others in April 2024 amounted to 11.43 MT (Provisional), indicating a significant growth of 12.99% from the previous year’s 10.12 MT.
The coal dispatches for April 2024 in India reached 85.10 MT (Provisional), showing a notable increase of 6.07% compared to the previous year’s figure of 80.23 MT. During April 2024, CIL dispatched 64.26 MT (Provisional) of coal, marking a growth of 3.18% from the corresponding period in the previous year, which recorded 62.28 MT. Additionally, coal dispatch by Captive/others in April amounted to 15.16 MT (Provisional), indicating a substantial growth of 26.90% from the previous year’s 11.95 MT.
