The interaction was described as a memorable experience that reinforced their emotional and cultural connection with India while highlighting the growing strength of India-France relations.

Several members of the Indian community gathered to welcome the Prime Minister and later shared their experiences with IANS, describing the moment as both personal and historic. One individual noted that this was the third time they had met PM Modi since moving to France in 2023. They expressed pride in witnessing the expanding friendship between India and France, adding that each interaction with the Prime Minister felt increasingly meaningful and encouraging.

Another member of the diaspora, originally from Coimbatore and now operating a business in Paris, described the meeting as a significant honor. They emphasized that being able to meet the Prime Minister while living abroad strengthened their sense of identity and connection to India, while also reflecting the importance of India’s growing global presence.

A visitor in Paris shared that the Prime Minister’s presence deeply moved the Indian community in France. They noted that many Indians were emotional during the interaction, adding that PM Modi’s long tenure in office had contributed to India’s global rise and that many citizens admired his leadership and continuity in governance.

An Indian-origin scientist also described the meeting as an emotional moment, stating that it felt as though a family member had visited them abroad. The scientist highlighted the importance of increasing opportunities for Indian innovators and professionals through expanding cooperation between India and France, which is helping strengthen academic and research linkages.

A student living in Paris emphasized the practical benefits of the bilateral relationship, particularly the opportunities available to Indian students. They pointed out that Indian students in France benefit from a two-year post-study work permit, which significantly enhances their career prospects. The student expressed pride in representing India and meeting the Prime Minister during his visit.

The visit also included cultural participation from Indian heritage groups in France. Rahis Bharti, director of the Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan and associated musical ensembles, said it was an honor to take part in the welcome ceremony for PM Modi. Members of the troupe performed traditional and patriotic pieces, including “Ae Watan,” adding a cultural dimension to the event.

Prime Minister Modi, in a post on X after arriving in Paris following the G7 Summit in Evian, expressed appreciation for the Indian diaspora’s role in strengthening bilateral relations. He acknowledged their contribution in bringing India and France closer and reiterated the importance of the India-France partnership for global progress and shared prosperity.

The post Indian Diaspora Welcomes PM Modi in Paris first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Their participation reflects the growing global influence of the Indian diaspora and highlights how athletes with Indian roots are making their mark in international football.

The four players set to appear at the tournament are New Zealand midfielder Sarpreet Singh, DR Congo midfielder Samuel Moutoussamy, Australia winger Nishan Velupillay, and Qatar forward Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid. Together, they will carry elements of Indian heritage onto one of the world’s biggest sporting platforms.

Sarpreet Singh is among the most recognized names in the group. Born in New Zealand to Punjabi parents, he has enjoyed a successful professional career and made history as the first player of Indian descent to appear in Germany’s Bundesliga when he debuted for Bayern Munich. Over the years, Singh has represented New Zealand at multiple international levels and remains an important figure in the national setup heading into the World Cup.

Samuel Moutoussamy’s background reflects a blend of cultures and continents. Born in France, he represents DR Congo internationally. His father’s ancestry traces back to Indian communities that migrated to the Caribbean generations ago. A seasoned midfielder, Moutoussamy has built a strong reputation through club football in France, Turkey, and Greece while becoming a regular presence for the Congolese national team.

Australia’s Nishan Velupillay has emerged as one of the country’s promising attacking talents. Raised in Melbourne, he comes from a multicultural family that includes Indian heritage through his mother. Since making his international debut, he has steadily earned a place in Australia’s national squad and contributed significantly during the qualification campaign.

The youngest Indian-origin player at the tournament will be Qatar’s Tahsin Mohammed Jamshid. Born in Doha to parents from Kerala, he developed through Qatar’s elite football development system before breaking into professional football. His rise has made him one of the few players of Indian heritage to reach the highest levels of Qatari football.

The tournament will also feature another connection to Indian football through Haiti striker Duckens Nazon, who previously played in the Indian Super League. While not of Indian origin, his past association with Indian football adds another layer of interest for fans following the competition.

The presence of these players underscores the expanding global footprint of the Indian diaspora and demonstrates how Indian heritage continues to be represented across the international sporting landscape.

The post Four Indian-Origin Players Set for FIFA World Cup first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The 2025 edition features 71 self-made billionaires aged 39 or younger, with four Indian-origin tech innovators making the top 40.

Leading the group is Ankur Jain, the founder and CEO of Bilt Rewards, a New York-based platform that lets renters earn loyalty points on rent payments. Jain, based in the United States, ranks 19th globally with an estimated net worth of $3.4 billion. Bilt Rewards, valued at $10.8 billion by private investors in mid-2025, follows Jain’s earlier success with Humin, a contact management app sold to Tinder in 2016.

Close behind is Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Bengaluru-based discount brokerage Zerodha, ranked 20th globally with a net worth of $3.3 billion. Kamath serves as Zerodha’s CFO, while his brother Nithin Kamath is CEO. Founded in 2010, Zerodha has become one of India’s largest stockbroking platforms, with a valuation estimated at nearly $8 billion. Kamath is the sole India-based entrepreneur in the global top 40 under-40 list.

The other two Indian-origin entrepreneurs are Surya Midha and Adarsh Hiremath, cofounders of San Francisco–based AI recruiting startup Mercor, each with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion, ranking 27th globally. Founded in 2023, Mercor supports AI labs in recruiting talent and training models and was valued at $10 billion by October 2025. Both Midha and Hiremath, aged 22, are among the youngest self-made billionaires globally and were named Thiel Fellows in 2024. Midha serves as chairman, while Hiremath is the company’s CTO.

The inclusion of these Indian and Indian-origin entrepreneurs reflects the rising prominence of fintech, AI, and rewards platforms in generating next-generation wealth, highlighting India’s growing role in the global technology and innovation landscape.

The post Four Indian Techies Make Forbes’ Richest Under-40 List first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Among this growing group of changemakers is Deblina Sarkar, an Indian-born scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whose groundbreaking research is redefining how complex brain diseases could be treated without the need for invasive surgery.

Born and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal, Deblina Sarkar is an electrical engineer, inventor, and researcher who currently serves as an assistant professor at MIT. An alumnus of IIT Dhanbad, she pursued advanced studies in nanoelectronics at the University of California, where she completed both her master’s degree and PhD. Her most notable contribution to medical science is Circulatronics, a revolutionary technology designed to diagnose and treat neurological disorders without making a single surgical incision.

Circulatronics represents a significant shift from traditional brain treatments that rely on implanted electrodes or invasive procedures. The technology uses microscopic, wireless electronic devices known as SWEDSs, which are fused with living cells and introduced into the bloodstream through injection. These chips are so small that they measure only a fraction of a grain of rice. Once inside the body, they travel through blood vessels, locate damaged areas of the brain, and settle there naturally, without surgery.

Powered externally by an infrared laser, these tiny electronic systems deliver precise electrical stimulation directly to impaired neurons deep within the brain. This approach has the potential to transform treatment options for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, chronic neurological pain, and brain tumors, offering safer and more accessible care for patients worldwide.

Deblina Sarkar’s journey to this breakthrough was marked by persistence and resilience. Inspired by a philosophy taught by her father — to live with discipline, work relentlessly, and maintain childlike curiosity — she continued her research despite facing more than 35 grant rejections in her early career. Skepticism from reviewers did not deter her belief in surgery-free brain implants, and her perseverance ultimately led to proof of concept and global recognition.

Her achievements have been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, the IEEE Nanotechnology Early Career Award, and recognition from the US National Academy of Engineering. She has also been named among top young innovators by leading science publications and invited to present her work at the renowned Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.

Deblina Sarkar’s work stands as a powerful example of how Indian-origin scientists in the United States continue to drive innovation that benefits humanity, reinforcing the global impact of the Indian diaspora in healthcare and scientific research.

The post MIT Scientist Deblina Sarkar Redefines Brain Treatment first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

She earned the honour as the co-founder of Kobalt Labs, a startup she launched alongside Ashi Agrawal, a former software engineer at Affirm. Her work sits at the intersection of financial technology and artificial intelligence, with a focus on solving long-standing compliance challenges in the financial sector.

Ramadurgam began her journey with a background in computer science, where she developed a strong interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning. Her academic training equipped her with core skills in software systems, data handling, and automation. Rather than relying only on formal education, she continued to sharpen her expertise through hands-on professional experience, allowing her to understand how technology operates in high-stakes environments.

Before starting her own company, Ramadurgam worked at Apple in a sensitive role linked to safeguarding Apple Pay from misuse by terrorist networks. During this time, she gained firsthand exposure to how compliance systems function within large global corporations. Despite Apple’s scale and resources, she observed that many compliance processes were slow, heavily manual, and dependent on outdated workflows.

She noticed that teams responsible for reviewing documents and managing regulatory risk often faced pressure due to inefficient systems. Manual checks consumed significant time and increased the possibility of oversight. These challenges were not unique to one company but reflected a broader issue across the financial industry, where legacy compliance methods struggled to keep up with growing regulatory complexity.

This experience became the foundation for her entrepreneurial leap. Ramadurgam realised that artificial intelligence could significantly reduce the burden of repetitive compliance work. With this insight, she co-founded Kobalt Labs, a startup dedicated to improving how banks and fintech companies handle risk management and regulatory reviews.

Kobalt Labs develops AI-powered tools that assist financial institutions in analysing policies, contracts, and compliance documents more efficiently. Tasks that previously required days or even weeks can now be completed in a fraction of the time. The company’s approach is designed to support human teams rather than replace them, allowing professionals to focus on higher-value decision-making.

As financial regulations continue to evolve and become more complex, Ramadurgam’s work addresses a growing industry need. Her journey highlights how practical exposure to real-world problems can spark meaningful innovation, and how technology, when applied thoughtfully, can transform critical systems within global finance.

The post Indian-Origin Founder Makes Forbes 30 Under 30 first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The honor was conferred during a ceremony held on Saturday at London’s historic Guildhall.

Chopra currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Dow Jones publications Financial News and Private Equity News, where she has played a defining role in shaping business and financial reporting. Reacting to the recognition, Chopra described the moment as deeply meaningful and reflective of her long professional journey. She shared that arriving in the UK as a student with ambitious dreams eventually led to a career she never imagined would culminate in such a distinguished civic honor. She expressed pride not only for her personal achievement but also for representing Indians working across the world.

The Freedom of the City of London is one of the oldest surviving traditional ceremonies in the country, dating back to the 13th century. It is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to London’s financial district, commonly referred to as the Square Mile. Over the years, the honor has been bestowed upon prominent Indian figures such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Ratan Tata, and actor Shabana Azmi, along with global leaders including Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill.

The ceremony was officiated by the Clerk of the Court and attended by Chopra’s family, including her parents, who traveled from Delhi, and her four-year-old daughter. According to an official statement, Chopra holds several historic distinctions within Dow Jones. She is the youngest editor to lead Financial News and Private Equity News, and also the first woman and first person of color to hold the position in the nearly three-decade history of the publications. She has been associated with Dow Jones since January 2019.

Beyond editorial leadership, Chopra is widely recognized for championing inclusion in the finance sector. She has spearheaded initiatives such as the “100 Most Influential Women in Finance” list and launched the “Pride of Finance” list, which highlights workplace inclusion stories of senior LGBTQIA+ professionals. The award acknowledges her journalistic leadership, commitment to ethical business reporting, and efforts to amplify underrepresented voices.

Chopra holds a master’s degree in International Journalism from Cardiff University and has received multiple accolades, including Social Value Journalist of the Year at the Aviva Investors Media Awards and Journalist of the Year for Stewardship at the State Street Awards.

The post UK Honors Indian Origin Journalist Shruti Chopra first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
