On May 24, 2023, Capgemini, a global provider of consultancy and IT services with its headquarters in Paris, declared the establishment of a 6G research center in Gurugram, India. To examine use cases for 6G ideas, use cases for the next-generation wireless network, and the creation of energy-saving solutions, the lab will build advanced test beds and simulators.
In May 2022, King’s College, London, and Capgemini announced a collaborative research project to explore the possibilities offered by 6G, with an emphasis on developing new architectural frameworks to enable ultra-large coverage, AI-native, and sustainable 6G networks. The new lab, according to the business, will build on this basic work by advancing the creation and display of the enormous potential of 6G as a crucial instrument of an “intelligent industry” that is data-driven and energy-efficient.
“The 6G lab will enable us to prototype, simulate, and test solutions, leveraging next-generation connectivity and silicon technologies along with advanced AI to address the wireless communication challenges presented by 6G,” said Shamik Mishra, chief technology and innovation officer “Connected Futures” at Capgemini. “As we take a lead on leveraging the potential of this emerging technology, we will also contribute to harmonizing efforts for 6G technology across the industry. An ecosystem for collaboration and knowledge sharing among enterprises and academia will be key to realizing numerous opportunities and applications for the future.”
