In anticipation of the upcoming national election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed its manifesto, outlining various commitments aimed at advancing railways and other infrastructure projects if the party secures power following the Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP’s manifesto, released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlights a special emphasis on uplifting the marginalized sectors of society including the poor, youth, farmers, and women. Stressing the importance of a strong and stable government amidst global uncertainties, Modi underlined the necessity for a government with a full majority.
Regarding railway development, the BJP has made substantial promises, including the expansion of the railway network to augment capacity for both passenger and cargo transportation. With plans to add new tracks at a rate exceeding 5000 km annually for the foreseeable future, the party aims to significantly enhance passenger carrying capacity by 2030, thereby alleviating the issue of long waiting lists.
Key pledges outlined by the BJP for railway development encompass the construction of new tracks, expansion of the Kavach Train Protection System, transformation of railway stations into world-class facilities, extension of new age train services, introduction of Vande Sleeper trains, and the initiation of feasibility studies for Bullet Train Corridors in various regions. Additionally, the party has committed to launching a user-friendly Super App consolidating all train-related services into a single platform.
The unveiling of the BJP’s manifesto, attended by prominent party members including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and party President JP Nadda, signals the party’s comprehensive strategy to modernize and expand India’s railway infrastructure, aligning with its vision for a developed India.
