Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebrations 2025 have made headlines by creating two new Guinness World Records, showcasing the city’s devotion, cultural vibrancy, and grandeur ahead of Diwali. The festival saw over 26 lakh diyas illuminated along the ghats of the River Saryu, while thousands of devotees performed a synchronized aarti, creating a breathtaking spectacle witnessed worldwide.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the event and received certificates for the two records. The first record recognized the largest display of oil lamps, with a total of 26,17,215 diyas lit. The second record celebrated the most people simultaneously performing a ‘diya’ rotation, with 1,121 participants taking part in the ritual. CM Yogi extended his greetings to the people of Uttar Pradesh, praising their enthusiasm and participation in the celebrations.
The festivities featured a mesmerizing drone show, a laser and light spectacle, and a grand Ram Leela performance at Ram Ki Paidi, enhancing the spiritual ambiance. The ghats of the River Saryu glowed with a sea of diyas and colorful lights, while the air resonated with the chants of ‘Ram Siya Ram’ as thousands gathered to honor Lord Rama.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi highlighted the dedication of local artisans from the Prajapati and Kumhar communities, who handcrafted the diyas used in the celebrations. He remarked on the historical challenges faced by devotees in Ayodhya and expressed pride in the community’s resilience and contribution to the festival’s success. The Chief Minister contrasted current celebrations with past governmental neglect, emphasizing the renewed focus on promoting cultural events such as Deepotsav, Rangotsav, and Dev Deepawali.
