The Melodies of Motion – Bharatnatyam Showcase was held at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robbinsville, New Jersey, on June 30, 2023. Through Bharatanatyam, a type of Indian classical dance, members of the local community had the chance to experience India’s diverse culture. Under the open sky, more than thirty young girls of all ages performed various Bharatnatyam dances. Originally done as a highly esteemed act of devotion, dancers used deft footwork, expressive hand gestures (mudras), and alluring facial expressions to convey their spirituality.
