Ashwin Ramaswami, a candidate for the Georgia State Senate in District 48, has been chosen to serve on the credentials committee for the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC), scheduled to be held in Chicago from August 19th to 22nd.
As one of four appointees from Georgia, Ramaswami joins the credentials committee, one of the three Biden-Harris standing committees at the Convention, alongside the rules committee and the platform committee.
In his capacity as a member of the credentials committee, Ramaswami will play a role in addressing inquiries regarding delegate seating and ensuring that delegate candidates receive proper credentials to serve at the Convention.
Expressing his gratitude, Ramaswami stated, “I am honored to represent Georgians at a national level. I am eager to contribute to our effort to reject political extremism and to support the right leaders in this November’s elections.”
Ramaswami’s appointment underscores the significant contributions of South Asian Americans and Gen Z leaders within the Georgia Democratic Party, shaping the direction of the national party, as noted by his campaign.
At 24 years old, Ramaswami secured the Democratic nomination for the Georgia Senate seat. His upcoming challenge against Republican Shawn Still in November aims to capture a pivotal Senate seat in the state.
