Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America (APSA), in collaboration with Arya Samajs from the Tri-States of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, is set to host the 2024 International Arya Mahasammelan (Global Arya Summit) from July 18 to July 21 at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
APSA, a leading religious and cultural organization, is instrumental in promoting the teachings and principles of the Arya Samaj in North America.
The 2024 Global Arya Summit will mark two significant anniversaries: 150 years since the founding of the Arya Samaj in 2025 and 50 years since its establishment in the United States. The event is expected to draw over 2,500 delegates from countries including the United States, Canada, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya, Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, Guyana, Trinidad, and Suriname.
The conference theme, ‘Arya Samaj: Sanātan Vedic Dharma for a Better World’, will delve into topics focused on improving individual, societal, and global well-being. Discussions will highlight Vedic values and their influence on physical, mental, moral, and spiritual health, alongside ongoing development programs based on these values to enhance personal and professional life.
A key focus will be on nurturing individuals to build a better society and world. Additional discussions will cover universal concepts for promoting world peace, the environmental and food security benefits of a vegetarian diet, and the teachings of the Gita and Ramayana.
Special workshops will provide attendees with opportunities to learn Vedic Meditation, Yoga/Exercises, and participate in Yajnya. The Yajnyashala will remain active throughout the event.
The summit will commence with a cultural celebration at Times Square in New York City, where over 1,000 attendees will honor the Bicentennial Birth Anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. Led by Arya Samaj youth, the celebration will include recitations of ancient Veda Mantras, Bhajans, and cultural and patriotic dances.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-year celebration on February 12, 2023, marking the Bicentennial Birth Anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of Arya Samaj and a modern reformer. This series of events, known as the Jyan Jyoti Parv or the Enlightenment through Knowledge Festival, began a global commemoration of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th birth anniversary.
The Cultural Ministry of India issued a special “Gazette of India” to form a committee of global leaders to oversee the celebration. Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America proudly announced that two of its members were selected to be part of this committee, led by Modi.
