On the occasion of Arunachal Pradesh’s 38th Statehood Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of inclusive development, citing its significant role in unleashing the state’s economic potential. Known as ‘The Land of the Rising Sun,’ Arunachal Pradesh received warm wishes from Shah via his official platform, formerly known as Twitter, as he expressed hopes for continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Additionally, Shah extended his greetings to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day, acknowledging the state’s vibrant cultural heritage and expressing optimism for its ongoing development journey.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, on this momentous occasion, conveyed gratitude for the contributions that have propelled Arunachal Pradesh’s multifaceted development. Situated at the confluence of Bhutan, China, and Myanmar, Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic significance is further enhanced by its unique geographical location.
The transition of Arunachal Pradesh from the North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) to Union Territory in 1972, and subsequently achieving statehood on February 20, 1987, underscores its historical importance. Similarly, Mizoram attained statehood status on the same day in 1987, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards greater autonomy within the Indian federal structure. Hence, each year on February 20th, Mizoram commemorates its Statehood Day to celebrate its official recognition as a full-fledged state.
