Following widespread criticism of its dialogues and visual effects, the film Adipurush has faced further scrutiny. Suresh Shyam Lal Gupta, the President of the All India Cine Workers Association, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling for an immediate ban on the film due to alleged religious sentiments being hurt. Gupta also demanded an FIR to be filed against the film’s director Om Raut, co-writer Manoj Muntasir, and the producers.
The film has received backlash from critics and reviewers nationwide for specific dialogues, such as ‘marega bete’ (your son will die), ‘bua ka bagicha hain kya’ (is this your aunt’s garden?), and ‘jalegi tere baap ki’ (your father’s funeral pyre will burn). In response to the criticism, the Adipurush team has decided to revise the dialogues. The All India Cine Workers Association’s note emphasized that the film’s screenplay and dialogues defame the image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman and hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma.
The association requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and halt the screening of Adipurush in theaters and on OTT platforms. The letter also called for an FIR against the director, writer, and producers of the film, expressing concern over the depiction of Lord Ram and Ravan, who is likened to a video game character. The association expressed disappointment in actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan for their involvement in what they deemed a disgraceful movie that undermines faith in Lord Ram and the epic Ramayana.
Adipurush, produced by T-Series, was released last week in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil, with Kriti Sanon portraying Sita, Prabhas as Ram, and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan.
