Prime Video India has announced that the crime series “Poacher,” featuring Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, will premiere on February 23. Alia Bhatt joins as executive producer for the series, created by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta.
“Poacher” delves into the issue of ivory poaching in India, based on true events. It blends environmental conservation with entertainment, addressing illegal poaching. The series, written and directed by Richie, will release in Malayalam, Hindi, and English.
Alia expressed her excitement, stating that being part of such a significant project is an honor for her and Eternal Sunshine Productions. She found the storytelling deeply moving, particularly because it sheds light on true events and highlights brutal crimes in forests. Alia hopes “Poacher” will deliver a powerful message of compassion towards all living beings, promoting coexistence.
QC principals Edward H Hamm Jr, Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick praised Alia’s involvement, citing her as a world-class actor and philanthropist. Her participation raises awareness about the series’ important themes.
The “Poacher” team includes DOP Johan Aidt, composer Andrew Lockington, and editor Beverly Mills. Produced by QC Entertainment in collaboration with Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, the series features Alan McAlex as producer for Suitable Pictures.
