Manoj Muntashir, the writer of the Indian mythological film Adipurush, has expressed regret for causing offense to the public’s religious sentiments due to the controversial dialogues in the movie. Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is an adaptation of the Epic Ramayana and has faced criticism since its release.
In a tweet, Muntashir apologized unconditionally, acknowledging that people’s emotions were hurt by Adipurush. He appealed for unity and strength from the divine figure Prabhu Bajrang Bali to serve the sacred Sanatan (eternal) principles and the nation.
Released on June 16, 2023, the film features Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Sunny Singh as Shesh. Several dialogues from the film, such as “marega bete” (will die, son), “bua ka bagicha hain kya” (is it your aunt’s garden?), and “jalegi tere baap ki” (your father will burn), have faced criticism.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written a letter to India’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Mumbai Police, urging them to file a case against the film’s producer, director, and writer. Additionally, a litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the revocation of the film’s certificate for public exhibition. The report also mentioned opposition from lawyers at a police station in New Agra.
