The highly anticipated film Adipurush is off to a strong start, with impressive advance ticket sales. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed that the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon-starrer has already sold over 470,000 tickets for its weekend shows. Adarsh expressed his excitement for the film’s potential success, predicting a “box office tsunami loading” in a tweet. Adipurush is set to release on June 16.
According to Adarsh’s update on Thursday, the advance booking status at national chains PVR and INOX showed promising numbers. For weekend 1, the total tickets sold reached 479,811, encompassing both the Hindi and Telugu versions. Adarsh mentioned that ticket sales from Cinepolis were still awaited, but he was enthusiastic about the film’s prospects.
Breaking down the ticket sales, Adarsh shared the figures for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday, PVR sold 126,050 tickets, while INOX sold 96,502, totaling 222,552 tickets. On Saturday, PVR sold 83,596 tickets, and INOX sold 55,438, reaching a total of 139,034 tickets. Sunday saw PVR selling 69,279 tickets and INOX selling 48,946, with a total of 118,225 tickets.
Adarsh emphasized that Adipurush’s box office collection would be massive, not only in single-screen theaters and multiplexes in the northern region but also in the south, particularly in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where Prabhas enjoys a massive fan base.
Regarding the film’s opening day, industry expert Girish Johar predicted a collection of around ₹40 to ₹50 crore. He expressed confidence in the film’s appeal, stating that the audience has responded positively to the new and revised trailer. With its basis in the legendary epic Ramayana, Johar anticipated a substantial opening ranging between ₹45 and ₹50 crore, or potentially even more when considering all languages combined.
Adipurush is a mythological drama based on the epic Ramayana. Prabhas portrays the character Raghava, while Kriti Sanon plays Janaki. The film also features Saif Ali Khan as the antagonist Ravana, as well as Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, Devdatta Nage as Bajrang, and Vatsal Sheth as Meghanadha. Sonal Chauhan and Trupti Toradmal also have roles in the film. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Om Raut, Adipurush will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
