External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar wrapped up a significant diplomatic day in New York by leading the Consul Generals Conference, where he acknowledged the dedicated work of India’s missions across the United States. Addressing representatives from every Indian Consulate in the country, along with officials from the Embassy in Washington, he praised their contributions to elevating India-US relations and supporting one of the world’s largest overseas Indian communities.
Sharing highlights from the meeting on X, Jaishankar noted that the gathering included Consuls General from New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, and Boston. He emphasized that the collective efforts of these missions continue to expand bilateral cooperation and deepen engagement with the Indian diaspora, which plays a crucial role in strengthening people-to-people ties.
The Consulate General of India in New York later issued its own statement, expressing gratitude for Jaishankar’s leadership and reaffirming its commitment to advancing the India-US partnership. The post described his guidance as a motivating force for their ongoing diplomatic outreach.
Beyond the conference, Jaishankar held an important meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Their discussion focused on global geopolitical shifts, regional tensions, and the future of multilateral cooperation. In his post, Jaishankar said he valued Guterres’ insights into world affairs and thanked him for his consistent support for India’s growth trajectory. He also extended an invitation to the Secretary-General to visit India.
The interaction with Guterres took place on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, where India is participating as an invited partner under Canada’s presidency. At the G7 Outreach Session on energy security and critical minerals, Jaishankar underscored India’s readiness to collaborate with international partners to build more resilient supply chains and reduce strategic dependencies.
Highlighting India’s global outlook, he reiterated that constructive cooperation remains central to addressing shared challenges. His remarks reflected India’s emphasis on strengthening partnerships, particularly in areas tied to energy sustainability, supply chain diversification, and global stability.
Through these engagements—from the Consul Generals Conference to high-level multilateral discussions—Jaishankar reinforced India’s commitment to deepening its relationship with the United States and contributing meaningfully to global diplomatic conversations.
