Global online marketplace Etsy, Inc. has announced the appointment of Kruti Patel Goyal as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Currently serving as Etsy’s President and Chief Growth Officer, Goyal will also take a seat on the company’s Board of Directors.
The leadership transition follows Josh Silverman’s decision to step down after steering Etsy for more than eight years. To ensure a smooth changeover, Silverman will continue as Executive Chair through the end of 2026. Fred Wilson, Etsy’s Board Chair since 2017, will relinquish his position but remain on the board.
In an emotional LinkedIn post, Goyal shared her enthusiasm about leading Etsy, saying she feels deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to head a company she has long admired. “Etsy’s magic lies in its people and the connections they build,” she wrote, emphasizing how her experiences as both a leader and shopper have deepened her appreciation for the platform’s creative spirit and community-driven marketplace.
Before joining Etsy’s executive team, Goyal successfully led Depop, an Etsy-owned fashion resale platform, where she nearly doubled both gross merchandise sales and its buyer community. Her success at Depop positioned her as a strategic leader focused on sustainable growth and innovation.
Goyal began her career in mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and later worked in growth equity at General Atlantic Partners. She said she approaches her new position with “gratitude, curiosity, and a strong commitment to learning from our team and sellers.”
Etsy’s leadership shift signifies a continued focus on global expansion, community engagement, and innovation as the company evolves under Goyal’s leadership starting in 2026.
