The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, will be celebrated on October 31 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honouring his immense contribution to India’s unity and political integration.
This year’s event holds special significance as the celebrations coincide with the 150th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man of India’. Ekta Nagar, home to the iconic 182-metre Statue of Unity, is witnessing grand preparations, featuring a cultural festival and a National Unity Parade by security forces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the celebrations at Ekta Nagar, where contingents from across the country will take part in the Unity Parade, modelled on the lines of the Republic Day parade.
Security forces including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, along with state police contingents, will participate in the grand march, showcasing discipline, unity, and patriotism.
Briefing the media, Gandhinagar DGP Vikas Sahay said, “This year, a total of 16 marching contingents from across the country will participate in the parade. Five of these contingents will be from the Central Armed Police Forces.”
The event will also feature an aerial display by the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran team and tableaux representing different states, celebrating India’s cultural diversity. Around 12,000 spectators are expected to witness the spectacular show.
The Gujarat government has made extensive arrangements for accommodation, transport, and medical facilities to ensure a smooth experience for participants and visitors.
