Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the sacred Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam, Nandyal district, on Thursday, where he offered prayers and took part in traditional rituals. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accompanied him during the visit.
Earlier in the day, CM Naidu officially welcomed the Prime Minister to the state, expressing gratitude and enthusiasm on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh. In a post shared on X, Naidu wrote, “On behalf of my people of Andhra Pradesh, I warmly welcome our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, to our state.”
Following the temple visit, PM Modi proceeded to Kurnool to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stones for several development initiatives valued at approximately $1.6 billion. These projects cover critical sectors including industry, energy transmission, roadways, rail connectivity, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas — showcasing the central government’s commitment to regional infrastructure development and inclusive economic progress.
The revered Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and among the 52 Shakti Peeths, holds immense religious significance. What makes this shrine unique is the coexistence of a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth within the same complex — a rare combination in India’s temple heritage.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also explored the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, a memorial site built in honour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s historic pilgrimage to Srisailam in 1677. The complex features a meditation hall surrounded by miniature models of four legendary forts — Pratapgad, Rajgad, Raigad, and Shivneri — symbolising Shivaji’s enduring legacy. At the centre stands a statue of the Maratha ruler in deep meditation, embodying courage and devotion.
Managed by the Sree Shivaji Memorial Committee, the Kendra serves as a tribute to India’s glorious past while inspiring visitors with messages of strength, spirituality, and patriotism. PM Modi’s visit, blending faith with forward-looking development, highlights his government’s vision of combining cultural reverence with national progress.
