Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on Wednesday, with greetings pouring in from political leaders across the spectrum. The milestone was marked not only by celebratory messages but also by a series of initiatives organized by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
To honor the occasion, the BJP launched a fortnight-long nationwide campaign called “Sewa Pakhwada,” featuring welfare and outreach programs running until October 2. These activities include health and nutrition camps, cleanliness drives, intellectual gatherings, and fairs highlighting indigenous products. The aim is to combine service with celebration, reflecting Modi’s emphasis on community participation.
On his birthday, the Prime Minister traveled to Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, where he inaugurated a nationwide initiative dedicated to the health and nutrition of women and children. He also rolled out development projects aimed at tribal communities and addressed a large public gathering. Additionally, the BJP announced screenings of Chalo Jeete Hai, a film based on Modi’s childhood, across all 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar.
Birthday greetings highlighted Modi’s influence across political lines. President Droupadi Murmu praised him for fostering a culture of achieving ambitious goals, noting that the international community also places faith in his leadership. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan commended his vision in steering India toward becoming a developed nation, while Speaker Om Birla said his dedication inspires every Indian.
Union leaders lauded Modi’s contributions as well. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh credited him with giving India new energy and global recognition, while Home Minister Amit Shah described him as the embodiment of the “nation first” philosophy. Shah, who has observed Modi’s political journey for decades, called him a symbol of sacrifice and transformation. BJP president J. P. Nadda emphasized Modi’s role in building a self-reliant India while uplifting the nation’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Nitin Gadkari called him the world’s most popular leader, wishing that India emerges as a “vishwaguru” under his leadership.
Opposition leaders also joined in. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi both extended wishes for his health and longevity. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described him as the torchbearer of 1.4 billion Indians, while Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav wished him a harmonious and meaningful life.
Born on September 17, 1950, in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, Modi served as Gujarat’s Chief Minister from 2001 to 2014 before becoming India’s Prime Minister. He has led the nation since 2014 and is now serving his third term.
