The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, has honored JCNC Life Benefactor Prem Jain with its prestigious 2025 BITS Ratna Award, the highest recognition bestowed upon an alumnus. The award was presented during the institution’s annual convention at the Hyderabad campus.
The BITS Ratna Award acknowledges alumni who have made extraordinary contributions to the institute, its stakeholders, and society at large, creating a lasting and transformative impact. Jain, widely respected as both a serial entrepreneur and philanthropist, has dedicated much of his life to education, innovation, and community service.
As part of his enduring commitment to his alma mater, Jain established the Rajkumari Jain Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at BITS Pilani, fostering creativity and leadership among students. His philanthropic efforts extend well beyond India. In the United States, Jain is the founding president of the Jain Center of Northern California and a former president of the Federation of Jain Associations in North America, which represents over 200,000 Jains. He has been instrumental in organizing interfaith initiatives promoting non-violence, forgiveness, and compassion, both in the Bay Area and on Capitol Hill, for more than two decades. He also played a key role in founding the Jain International Trade Organization.
In addition to his work with Jain organizations, Jain has contributed significantly to the University of California system. He established the Prem Chand Jain Family Presidential Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and was recognized in 2021 with the CAAA Distinguished Achievement Award and the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award. Currently, he also serves as an advisor to the UC Davis Chancellor’s office.
Jain is a frequent global speaker, representing Jainism at conferences across North America and internationally. His decades of work highlight a lifelong commitment to education, innovation, philanthropy, and spreading the principles of compassion and non-violence worldwide.
