Manhattan University has named Grishma Shah, Ph.D., as the new Associate Dean of the O’Malley School of Business. Dr. Shah, who has been with the university since 2008, previously served as Professor and Director of Global Business Studies. A Rutgers University graduate with a doctorate in Global Affairs and International Business, she brings close to 20 years of teaching, research, and international engagement to her new leadership position.
Dr. Shah is widely regarded for her scholarship on globalization, gender equity, and cultural transformation, with her work appearing in publications such as the Harvard Business Review. She is also a sought-after speaker at international conferences, where she shares insights on the evolving landscape of global business.
Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Shah emphasized the influence of her international experiences on her teaching philosophy. “My approach is rooted in empathy and cross-cultural connection, allowing students to navigate the real-world complexity of business and humanity,” she noted. She expressed her commitment to working with Dean Hany Guirguis, faculty, and students to expand international collaborations, create hands-on learning opportunities, and strengthen the school’s reputation for socially conscious, globally focused business education.
Since 2019, Dr. Shah has directed the Global Business Studies program, spearheading immersive learning projects in countries including India, Singapore, Malaysia, Greece, and the United Arab Emirates. These initiatives have allowed students to collaborate directly with global companies and nonprofits on real-world challenges such as sustainable design and marketing for social enterprises. Her focus on experiential learning is closely aligned with Manhattan University’s Lasallian mission of combining knowledge with service.
Dean Guirguis praised Dr. Shah’s appointment, citing her extensive leadership experience, academic contributions, and deep understanding of issues such as gender identity and migration. He underscored her ability to enrich both the academic community and the broader mission of the O’Malley School.
Beyond academia, Dr. Shah is actively involved in service work, volunteering with Operation Smile on medical missions to countries including India, South Africa, Ecuador, and the Philippines. She is also a novelist; her debut book, Anagram Destiny, weaves themes of migration, identity, and globalization, drawing from her academic expertise and personal background as the daughter of Indian immigrants.
With this appointment, Dr. Shah is set to guide the O’Malley School of Business toward becoming a stronger hub for globally engaged, socially responsible business leaders.
