Kriti Sanon has carved out a remarkable place for herself in Hindi cinema despite not having any family connections in the industry. Recognized today as one of Bollywood’s most successful outsiders, the National Award-winning actor believes her journey is a testament to the power of persistence and passion.
Speaking at a News 18 event, Kriti reflected on the hurdles faced by those without film industry roots. She noted that aspiring actors often confront doubts, criticism, and rejection. “There are no shortcuts in this field,” she explained. “You have to work tirelessly, stay committed, and most importantly, refuse to give up. When you don’t come from a film family, nothing is offered on a platter. People will always point out your flaws — too tall, too thin, not the right look. Very few will encourage you. At the end of the day, only you can truly believe in yourself.”
Kriti, who made her debut with Heropanti in 2014, has since established herself with films like Dilwale, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, and Housefull 4. Her career-defining moment came in 2022 when she earned both the National Film Award and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her moving performance in Mimi.
The actor also emphasized that patience is key to sustaining ambition. She advised newcomers to view the years before a big breakthrough as an opportunity for growth. “Don’t be disheartened if success feels delayed. Think of it as a period to refine your skills and evolve. When the right moment comes, your preparation will pay off. Keep faith in the journey.”
Kriti’s recent successes include Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew, both released in 2024. Looking ahead, she is set to appear in Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein opposite Dhanush, as well as Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2 alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
For Kriti Sanon, her outsider tag has transformed from a challenge into a badge of honor, symbolizing resilience, self-belief, and the courage to dream big in an industry often dominated by legacies.
