With India’s 79th Independence Day around the corner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon citizens to contribute their ideas for his 2025 address. Taking to platform X, Modi invited people from all walks of life to suggest topics they would like him to include in his upcoming speech. He encouraged participation through the Open Forum on MyGov and the official NaMo App.
The Prime Minister’s message read: “As we near Independence Day, I am eager to hear from fellow Indians. What themes or ideas should this year’s speech reflect? Share your views through MyGov or the NaMo App.”
To foster deeper public involvement, the Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with MyGov, has launched the “Independence Day Celebrations 2025” initiative. The campaign features a series of national-level competitions aimed at instilling patriotic values and unity—especially among the youth.
Citizens are invited to take part in a variety of contests including essay writing, quizzes, art submissions, and creative design entries that pay tribute to India’s freedom fighters and the nation’s long-standing spirit of resilience and courage.
Since its launch in 2014, MyGov has become a cornerstone of citizen-government engagement, allowing individuals to voice opinions and shape policy direction. Likewise, the NaMo App continues to serve as a personalized gateway for staying updated on key initiatives, policy announcements, and national campaigns.
This year’s Independence Day is expected to highlight crucial themes such as national integration, technological growth, and visionary progress. The celebrations are also seen as a precursor to the momentous 80th anniversary of independence in 2026.
PM Modi’s public outreach follows his recent 100-minute speech in the Lok Sabha, where he praised the country’s military success in Operation Sindoor. The Prime Minister emphasized the operation’s role in countering threats and reinforcing India’s strength on the global stage, stating, “Our armed forces acted with full freedom—and those behind terrorism are still losing sleep.”
