Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong admiration for External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s impactful address in Parliament regarding Operation Sindoor, calling it a vital moment that showcased India’s foreign policy effectiveness. Modi shared Jaishankar’s speech on social media, praising it as a powerful articulation of India’s position on terrorism, especially in the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Through a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi emphasized how India’s stance has brought the international community together against terrorism. He described Jaishankar’s remarks as “outstanding,” noting they clearly conveyed how the world has embraced India’s firm anti-terror message during Operation Sindoor.
In Parliament, Jaishankar responded to questions about the global reaction to the Pahalgam incident and outlined how major global alliances like the Quad and BRICS supported India. He cited their official statements, where both groups strongly denounced all forms of terrorism. The Quad, made up of the US, Australia, Japan, and India, explicitly condemned cross-border extremism. Similarly, BRICS, which includes China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, and Iran, echoed their condemnation and reiterated their commitment to global peace and anti-terrorism cooperation.
Jaishankar pointed out that India’s military reaction to the attack in Pahalgam has reset expectations on handling cross-border threats, particularly from Pakistan. He described this as a “new normal,” where India no longer tolerates provocations and is unwilling to resume talks unless terrorism is eliminated from bilateral issues. He also referenced a five-point diplomatic doctrine, stressing that cordial relations cannot thrive where terrorism persists—adding that “blood and water cannot flow together.”
Through this bold diplomatic and strategic stance, India continues to assert its influence on the global stage while tightening its national security narrative.
