Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently emphasized that India is seeing a rapid decline in inequality and is steadily moving toward becoming one of the world’s most equitable societies. Speaking at the Rozgar Mela via video conference—where more than 51,000 job appointment letters were distributed—he cited a recent World Bank report to support his assertion.
A substantial portion of the new appointments—over 40,000—came from the Indian Railways, reinforcing the government’s commitment to employment generation. PM Modi praised the foundational pillars of democracy, equality, and demographic strength as key drivers of the nation’s transformation.
He recalled his recent five-nation tour and noted how India’s vibrant youth consistently earned praise abroad. “The world today respects India for two reasons—our thriving democracy and our dynamic youth,” Modi stated. He credited his government’s bold policy changes and welfare initiatives for empowering citizens and reducing poverty at a massive scale.
Highlighting a significant socio-economic achievement, he claimed that nearly 250 million (25 crore) Indians have risen above the poverty line during his tenure. He applauded those who made the most of government schemes rather than giving in to despair. “I salute the spirit of those who chose action and progress over complaint,” Modi remarked.
Drawing from the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) recent findings, Modi said over 900 million Indians have gained access to welfare coverage in the past ten years. These programs, beyond offering social protection, are also creating employment avenues. Notable among them are the PM Surya Ghar Yojana for rooftop solar adoption, Drone Didi, and Lakhpati Didi, all aimed at empowering women and underserved communities.
PM Modi also touched on India’s expanding manufacturing capabilities, particularly in defense. Following Operation Sindoor, the country’s defense production reportedly crossed $15 billion, reflecting global recognition. He also mentioned progress in the technology, electronics, and transportation sectors as evidence of India’s broad-based industrial growth.
In his closing remarks, PM Modi reiterated that India is becoming a more equitable and opportunity-rich society through sustained reforms, massive welfare outreach, and the unmatched strength of its people.
