US President Donald Trump has lauded the recent air offensive on Iran’s nuclear installations as a flawless military triumph, declaring that the operation caused enormous structural damage to Iran’s deeply buried nuclear assets. The mission, titled “Operation Midnight Hammer,” took place on Saturday evening and marked a significant escalation in US-Iran tensions.
Key targets included Iran’s heavily fortified nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, all of which were struck using 14 heavyweight bunker-busting bombs, each weighing approximately 15 tons. These precision-guided munitions were delivered by B-2 stealth bombers, making it the first known use of such weaponry in an actual combat operation.
Trump, posting on his social platform Truth Social, didn’t hold back in his praise for the US military, calling the results “monumental.” “Bullseye!!! Obliteration is the right word,” he wrote, referring to the depth of destruction achieved beneath the surface. “This was a level of precision and power no other military could match,” he added.
This marks the first major direct US strike on Iran’s nuclear program since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, and was seen as a significant step in coordination with Israel, which has already taken military action in the region. Pentagon officials emphasized that the strike was aimed at halting Iran’s accelerating uranium enrichment operations.
“All aircraft involved are now out of Iranian airspace,” Trump confirmed shortly after the mission ended, signaling the operation’s completion without loss.
At a Pentagon briefing, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed the President’s sentiment, declaring the attack a crippling blow to Iran’s nuclear development, stating: “We devastated their program. It was obliterated.”
However, the aggressive move has sparked sharp criticism internationally. Russia, China, and even Saudi Arabia labeled the airstrikes as dangerously destabilizing and called for immediate de-escalation. Meanwhile, Israel voiced strong support.
Iran’s leadership, furious over the attack, vowed swift retaliation. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei issued a chilling warning, saying, “The Zionist enemy has made a grave mistake and will be punished.” President Masoud Pezeshkian also condemned the strike, warning the US of an impending response.
Shortly after the bombing, Iran launched a series of missile attacks on Israeli territory, intensifying fears of a broader Middle Eastern conflict and pushing the region to the brink of a larger war.
