Spiritual leader and Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has been awarded the Global Indian of the Year honor by the Canada India Foundation (CIF). The recognition was announced during CIF’s annual gala in Toronto on May 22, 2025, celebrating his far-reaching contributions to sustainability, well-being, and societal transformation on a global scale.
Sadhguru’s environmental leadership—especially through the Save Soil initiative and Cauvery Calling campaign—has sparked worldwide action on soil regeneration, agroforestry, and eco-conscious farming. These movements, grounded in both scientific research and community participation, aim to restore degraded lands and ensure long-term food and water security.
Accepting the award, Sadhguru announced he would donate the CAD 50,000 honorarium to Cauvery Calling, reaffirming his commitment to river revitalization efforts in southern India. “This recognition isn’t about me. It belongs to the countless volunteers who give their all to protect our planet and uplift lives,” he shared at the ceremony.
The Isha Foundation, based in Tennessee and operating across 34 US states and over 50 countries, delivers impactful programs in rural education, healthcare, inner engineering, and sustainable development. Its main US center, nestled in the Cumberland Plateau, has become both a spiritual hub and a community asset.
In honoring Sadhguru, CIF leaders praised his ability to blend ancient wisdom with modern solutions, driving dialogue across scientific, environmental, and political spheres. His work, they said, exemplifies the power of conscious leadership in addressing global challenges.
This latest accolade joins a long list of honors that continue to celebrate Sadhguru’s mission to foster inner well-being and collective responsibility for a sustainable future.
