New satellite imagery has unveiled significant destruction at Pakistan’s Murid Airbase, struck during India’s retaliatory military operation known as Operation Sindoor. The images, shared by geospatial intelligence expert Damien Symon from Intel Lab, showcase a massive three-meter-wide crater located just 30 meters from what appears to be an underground facility — hinting at a highly targeted precision strike.
The visual evidence points to direct impact in one of the airbase’s most secure sections. NDTV’s report, cited by Symon, confirms that the strike occurred in a protected zone, near one of two entry points to a suspected subterranean installation.
Additional images captured from both the Nur Khan and Murid airbases display widespread destruction. While Nur Khan’s visuals show a heavily damaged building complex, the Murid base clearly suffered hits to a command and control structure.
The airstrike, executed by Indian forces on May 7, came 14 days after a brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam claimed 26 civilian lives. In response, India launched calibrated strikes on nine specific terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), reportedly eliminating over 100 terrorists in the operation.
In the days that followed, Pakistan escalated tensions by launching drone and missile attacks targeting Indian civilians and military outposts. India, however, responded decisively — breaching and jamming Chinese-origin air defense systems and inflicting substantial damage across Pakistan’s military infrastructure, including bases from Nur Khan to Sargodha.
Faced with mounting losses, Pakistan’s initial bravado gave way to desperation as it approached India with a ceasefire request, which was confirmed and accepted by New Delhi on May 10.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi later addressed the nation, clarifying that Operation Sindoor was not merely a one-time strike but marked a new strategic shift. He emphasized that it represented a lasting change in India’s doctrine against terrorism — a clear signal that Delhi’s response to future provocations will be swift and forceful.
