Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for mocking India’s Operation Sindoor delegations by calling them a “baraat”. At the ‘Shankhnaad’ rally in Nanded, Maharashtra, Amit Shah stated that had Balasaheb Thackeray been alive, he would have backed Prime Minister Modi and endorsed the operation.
Shah voiced uncertainty over Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership direction, questioning Shiv Sena (UBT)’s position even as its members took part in the delegation.
Lauding the success of Operation Sindoor, Shah stated it had clearly demonstrated to adversaries, particularly Pakistan, that India will respond with force when provoked. He underscored that India under Modi’s leadership has decisively retaliated to terror attacks, referencing past strikes in Uri, Pulwama, and Pahalgam.
Shah described Operation Sindoor as a symbol of India’s steadfast commitment to national security, crediting the armed forces for their precision and bravery. He highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s resolute response to the Pahalgam terror strike, underscoring a marked shift in India’s counter-terrorism policy since the Congress-led era.
The comments come amid ongoing political tensions in Maharashtra, where Uddhav Thackeray’s party had severed ties with the BJP in 2019 to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance with Congress and NCP.
