Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday commended the Indian armed forces for their swift and precise response to the Pahalgam terror attack, executed under Operation Sindoor. Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Singh likened the military action to the work of expert surgeons who target the root of a disease with utmost precision.
“Just as a skilled doctor treats the source of illness, our forces targeted the very foundation of terrorism,” Singh stated. “India acted with resolve and successfully dismantled terror camps deep inside Pakistan.”
Operation Sindoor, launched in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, involved strategic airstrikes on terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Conducted on the night of May 6–7, the mission saw nine terror training centers destroyed, with over 100 terrorists reportedly eliminated. Key Pakistani air bases, including one in Rawalpindi, were also targeted.
Singh emphasized that these actions were carried out with careful planning to avoid civilian casualties. “We ensured that only terror camps were targeted—no civilian sites were affected,” he stated. “Our forces operated with precision and restraint.”
He also highlighted how Pakistan’s military, unprepared for such a response, was left overwhelmed. “Pakistan, unfortunately, refuses to correct its behavior. It continued attacks, targeting religious sites and civilians. But our forces’ response forced them to retreat,” Singh added.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was also present, called Operation Sindoor a tribute to India’s pride and dignity. He said the operation stands as a powerful guarantee of safety for future generations and the honor of Indian women, symbolized by the term ‘Sindoor.’
Yogi further noted that while Pakistan and its allies had been acting with impunity, India’s firm action under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership signaled a new era of assertive national defense.
Despite Pakistan’s retaliatory attempts using drone swarms and missile attacks along the LoC and International Border, India’s robust air defense systems intercepted all threats, ensuring national security remained uncompromised.
Operation Sindoor marks a significant chapter in India’s counterterrorism narrative, showcasing both strength and restraint on the global stage.
