The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi celebrated the start of the New Year with a special event emphasizing unity, diversity, and harmony. More than 20 defense attaches, military personnel, their families, and representatives from various global embassies gathered at the temple to engage in cultural exchanges and discussions on global peace and unity. This event highlighted the temple’s commitment to fostering intercultural understanding and collaboration, positioning it as a beacon of hope for communities across the globe.
The occasion saw a diverse group of attendees, including defense attaches from countries such as Belgium, Canada, France, India, Japan, Switzerland, and Egypt, among others. These dignitaries were warmly welcomed with traditional garlands and roses by the BAPS Board members and volunteers. The peaceful atmosphere of the temple, coupled with the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – the idea that the world is one family – provided a meaningful setting for the gathering.
One of the highlights was the delegates’ participation in prayers at the Prayer Dune, a site that symbolizes the origins of the mandir, and where participants offered selfless prayers for world peace and the well-being of others. Additionally, they experienced “The Fairy Tale” immersive show, which vividly recreated the remarkable journey of the BAPS Hindu Mandir’s establishment in Abu Dhabi. The show utilized 20 video projectors and cutting-edge surround sound, leaving the guests in awe.
The delegates also toured the mandir’s architectural marvels, learning about its spiritual, cultural, and social contributions. Many admired the ancient Civilizational Value tales carved into the temple’s facade. Brahmaviharidas Swami, Head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of global peace and harmony. He called for actions based on love, compassion, and respect, advocating for winning people over rather than engaging in conflicts.
Swami also expressed gratitude to the President of the UAE, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his continued support of the Mandir and encouraged the attendees to work towards a peaceful and stable world. Captain Harpreet Singh Luthra, in his vote of thanks, highlighted the significance of the mandir in strengthening India-UAE relations and noted that over two million visitors had already visited the mandir, demonstrating the global admiration for this cultural and spiritual landmark.
