Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, highlighted India’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations with Sri Lanka through increased economic and cultural collaboration. His remarks were delivered at the India-Sri Lanka Business Forum in New Delhi on Monday, attended by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Goyal underscored the long-standing economic ties between the two nations, expressing confidence that deeper cooperation would lead to shared prosperity. The forum, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), provided a platform for discussing opportunities in trade, investment, and cultural engagement. In a social media post, Goyal reiterated India’s commitment to fostering mutual understanding and trust to drive growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also engaged with President Dissanayake, addressing key issues such as trade, investment, connectivity, and energy. Modi emphasized collaboration in sectors like housing, agriculture, dairy, and fisheries. Additionally, both leaders committed to strengthening efforts against terrorism, organized crime, and enhancing maritime and cyber security.
Dissanayake’s visit marks his first bilateral trip to India since taking office in September, reflecting the importance of the enduring partnership between the two nations.
