BJP MP and actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut on Sunday criticized the Congress party, asserting that it has “lost its stature as a brand” and is now reduced to the status of a regional entity. Speaking to media personnel, she also lauded the BJP’s sweeping victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, describing it as one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greatest achievements.
Ranaut remarked, “PM Modi is the world’s greatest leader. Today, the people of India believe in brands. There was a time when, post-independence, the Congress party was regarded as a brand. But now, the party has been relegated to the status of a regional party.”
She elaborated further, stating, “In today’s times, people have lost faith in the Congress. What the people now demand is a stable government and development. This is why BJP has achieved such a historic victory in Maharashtra.”
The BJP MP heaped praise on PM Modi’s leadership, describing him as “invincible” and attributing his success to his selfless dedication to the country. “PM Modi is invincible, and the people of India have made him so. He has lived his entire life in penance. As someone who holds religious thoughts, I believe he was born for the welfare of the country. Otherwise, where would one find such an ascetic and idealistic person?” she added.
When asked about the decision regarding the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ranaut deferred to the BJP high command. “I am at a very small level. The decision will be made by the high command. In BJP, the principles remain the same—the RSS ideology and Hindutva. Within the party, there is no distinction between workers and leaders; all are aligned with the same principles,” she stated.
Ranaut also took the opportunity to criticize Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar, interpreting Bhaskar’s statements as expressions of frustration. Commenting on the campaign atmosphere in Maharashtra, she said, “During the campaigning, I saw children chanting ‘Modi, Modi’ everywhere. Those who once talked about dividing the country have been taught a lesson by the public. Today, their frustration is evident—they are behaving like a frustrated cat scratching a pole.”
She concluded her remarks by emphasizing the unity and ideological consistency within the BJP, asserting that the party’s victory in Maharashtra is a testament to its commitment to development and stability.
