Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s increasing global recognition, attributing this success to his government’s “reform, perform, and transform” mantra over the last decade. Speaking virtually at the News9 Global Summit in Stuttgart, Germany, he highlighted India’s progressive and stable policies, streamlined tax systems like GST, and the reduction of bureaucratic red tape, all of which have positioned the country for rapid 21st-century growth.
He stressed that these efforts have laid the groundwork for “Viksit Bharat,” a developed India, and expressed optimism about Germany’s role as a key partner in this journey. Modi noted the significance of the summit’s theme, “India and Germany: A Roadmap for Sustainable Growth,” recognizing Germany as one of India’s most important allies.
The Prime Minister highlighted the strengthening Indo-German relationship, citing Germany’s recent “Focus on India” strategy as evidence of the global acknowledgment of India’s importance. He emphasized that India, the world’s fastest-growing economy, is attracting interest from many countries, with Germany at the forefront.
Modi discussed various reforms that have streamlined doing business in India, including simplifying the tax system and strengthening banks to provide timely capital. He noted India’s rapid infrastructure development across physical, social, and digital sectors, emphasizing the potential synergy between India’s dynamism and Germany’s engineering excellence.
Currently, over 1,800 German companies operate in India, with investments exceeding $15 billion in recent years. Bilateral trade stands at approximately $34 billion, and Modi expressed confidence that it will continue to grow. He encouraged German firms to expand their investments, highlighting India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub, particularly in mobile, electronics, and automotive sectors.
The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating the importance of Indo-German collaboration, particularly in engineering, manufacturing, and innovation, emphasizing the mutual benefits of strengthening this strategic partnership.
