Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his campaign for the Maharashtra state assembly election in Dhule, urging citizens to reject the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), accusing them of corruption and illegally forming the previous government. Modi promised voters that his government is committed to Maharashtra’s progress and farmers’ welfare, in stark contrast to the alleged failures of the MVA.
Modi also announced an increase in financial aid under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, raising the support from $144 to $180 per year starting in the next fiscal year. Additionally, Modi mentioned that he would be addressing 10 rallies across Maharashtra in this election cycle, compared to 18 rallies during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
During a rally in Nashik, Modi lashed out at Congress, claiming that the party once operated with two constitutions—one for India and another for Jammu and Kashmir—before the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revoked Article 370. He also accused Congress of trying to reintroduce Article 370 through the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly, pledging that the BJP would never allow this.
He further criticized Congress for allegedly seeking to revoke reservations for underprivileged communities, while stressing that the BJP remains committed to ensuring these benefits are preserved. “Maharashtra is key to India’s growth,” Modi said. “Without Maharashtra, the country’s development would be incomplete.”
Modi praised the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, noting that the state’s development was once again flourishing under his guidance. He blamed the previous MVA government for blocking crucial projects and investments that could have boosted jobs and economic growth.
The Prime Minister also accused Congress of trying to sow divisions within the OBC (Other Backward Classes) community, a strategy he claimed was aimed at weakening their unity. He pointed out that Congress was unable to accept an OBC Prime Minister for the third time and was “venting its anger” against the community. He further criticized the MVA for opposing schemes like the Ladki Bahan Yojana, even approaching the courts to halt the initiative.
In conclusion, Modi urged Maharashtra voters to continue supporting a government that prioritizes their welfare and development, emphasizing that the BJP is committed to the state’s growth and prosperity.
