US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, brought lively energy to Diwali celebrations at the US Embassy in Delhi on Wednesday. Garcetti surprised the crowd with a spirited Bhangra dance to the hit song “Tauba Tauba” from the Bollywood film Bad Newz, wearing a traditional brown kurta, stylish shades, a red dupatta, and taupe shoes to embrace the festive look.
Earlier, Garcetti had shared his excitement for the holiday by posting a photo of the embassy glowing with golden lights for Diwali. He shared, “Our Embassy is all lit up, and we’re ready for Diwali. How are you celebrating the Festival of Lights?”
The White House extended Diwali greetings with the message, “Happy Diwali from the White House!”
The White House recently held a Diwali celebration hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on October 28, bringing together Indian Americans from around the country to recognize their contributions to the “US-India bond.” This gathering marked the final Diwali celebration for the Bidens as President and First Lady, adding a special touch to a cherished tradition that has strengthened cultural ties across borders.
