Beyonce is scheduled to appear with Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally in Houston this Friday, according to sources reported by The New York Times, NBC News, and CNN. This event, which will also include country music star Willie Nelson, aims to serve as a significant closing act for Harris’ campaign leading up to Election Day. It will be the first occasion where both Beyoncé and Harris share the stage, highlighted by the music icon’s anthem “Freedom.”
Months prior, the Houston native allowed Harris to adopt “Freedom” as the official anthem for her campaign. The permission was granted promptly, despite Beyonce’s reputation for having strict regulations regarding the use of her music, as reported by CNN.
The song has been featured in Harris’ advertisements and played during pivotal moments of the campaign, such as Harris’ inaugural appearance at the Democratic National Convention and at her campaign headquarters soon after launching her candidacy.
Although there were speculations that Beyoncé might have shown up at the Democratic National Convention to support Harris, campaign officials clarified that no such appearance was planned. The upcoming Houston rally is set to be a pivotal event for both Harris and Beyonce, who has a longstanding tradition of endorsing Democratic candidates.
During the 2020 election, Beyonce publicly endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket via her Instagram account.
In 2013, Beyonce performed the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. Three years later, she and her husband Jay-Z headlined a concert in Cleveland, Ohio, to support Hillary Clinton, with dancers wearing blue pants suits as a tribute to Clinton’s campaign for the presidency.
Beyonce has expressed her desire for her daughter to witness a woman leading the country, asserting that she wants her child to understand that her potential is limitless. Simultaneously, former President Donald Trump is making campaign stops nationwide in the final days before the election, featuring endorsements from several celebrities, including country music stars Jason Aldean and Kid Rock, as well as wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.
