Kamala Harris’ campaign, along with affiliated Democratic groups, raised approximately $633 million in the last quarter, pushing total fundraising efforts past the $1 billion mark. This financial achievement gives Harris a significant lead over Republican rival Donald Trump in the closing stages of the presidential race. In September alone, the Democratic National Committee and state parties, in coordination with Harris’ campaign, pulled in over $359 million, with the campaign itself contributing $222 million. Despite raising massive amounts, the campaign spent heavily, with $270 million dedicated to an extensive advertising campaign aimed at reaching voters across multiple platforms, including radio, television, and online.
Heading into October, Harris and her affiliated committees had $346 million on hand, while Trump and his Republican allies reported raising $160 million in September, bringing their total available funds to $283 million.
Harris’ campaign noted that 95% of the donations in the third quarter were under $200, with contributions from over 6 million people, including 4.3 million first-time donors. Her campaign benefited from high-profile fundraising events, particularly in California and New York, where celebrity support from figures like Jessica Alba and Stevie Wonder helped raise $55 million over one weekend in September.
