Ishan Kishan made a stunning comeback to the Duleep Trophy, scoring a brilliant century for India C in their second-round clash against India B on Thursday. Kishan reached his hundred off 121 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and two sixes, showcasing his aggressive yet composed batting style.
The 26-year-old had a stroke of luck on the opening day, surviving two dropped chances in consecutive overs. The first near-miss came when he pulled a short delivery from Navdeep Saini toward deep backward square leg. Nitish Kumar Reddy leaped to stop the ball from crossing the boundary but couldn’t hold onto the catch. In the following over, Kishan misjudged another pull shot, this time off Mukesh Kumar. Nitish, now positioned at mid-on, ran back and dove for the catch, but it slipped through his fingers again.
Earlier, Kishan had been a late addition to the India C squad. Sources from Sportstar revealed that he joined the team just a day before the match and participated in the practice session.
Kishan had missed the first round of the Duleep Trophy due to a groin injury he picked up during the Buchi Babu Tournament in Tamil Nadu. This tournament marked his return to multi-day cricket, as he represented Jharkhand in two matches—the first of such games for him in over a year.
