Inspired by the historic moment of having a fellow community member as the Democratic presidential candidate, a vibrant group of Indian-Americans has launched a dynamic new website, DesiPresident.com, with the engaging tagline “Kamala Ke Saath.” Kamala Harris, 59, brings a unique blend of heritage—her mother’s roots trace back to Chennai, while her father’s origins are in Jamaica. The site captures the collective enthusiasm and hope as they gear up for a pivotal journey, urging everyone to join in and make a difference.
In conjunction with the website, the Desi President initiative, backed by the Indian American Impact Fund, has released a trendy T-shirt emblazoned with “Kamala Ke Saath: Vote Kamala,” which has quickly become a social media sensation. The group is also hosting a weekly virtual phone bank, named “Kamala Ke Saath,” dedicated to engaging voters and supporters through phone outreach. At a recent event, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi received one of these T-shirts, courtesy of the Indian American Impact Fund.
This use of a Hindi slogan in a presidential campaign isn’t unprecedented. Back in 2016, the Trump campaign featured the slogan “Ab Ki Baar Trump Sarkaar.”
The Indian American Impact Fund is rallying behind Kamala Devi Harris, aiming to energize South Asian voters in support of electing the first Indian-American president. “Kamala Harris embodies our values and represents our communities,” the fund emphasized.
