Sandeep Srivastava, an Indian American candidate, has clinched the Democratic nomination for the US House of Representatives from Texas’ District 3 without facing any opponents. This victory propels him into the upcoming general elections set for November 2024. In the race, he will go head-to-head against the incumbent Republican, Keith Self, who garnered 55,847 votes in the primary, securing 72.8 percent of the total ballots cast.
In his previous bid for the same congressional seat in 2022, Srivastava faced defeat against Keith Self, securing only 38.2 percent of the vote share. Despite this setback, Srivastava remains undeterred in his pursuit of public office.
A first-generation immigrant, Srivastava hails from a real-estate background in Plano, Texas. He has established himself as a dedicated community advocate, championing causes such as women’s rights, gun safety initiatives to curb violence, and advocating for universal access to Pre-K education and healthcare.
In an effort to assist fellow immigrants in their journey to the United States and help them realize their American dream, Srivastava founded a non-profit organization focused on facilitating their transition and integration into American society.
Indian American Impact (IAI), an organization committed to supporting South Asian American candidates and mobilizing South Asian voters nationwide, extended their congratulations to Srivastava on his nomination. They highlighted the significance of his potential representation, particularly in a district boasting nearly 60,000 South Asian residents, as a significant stride towards enhanced representation in both Texas and the broader US Congress.
