Indian American technology entrepreneur Jiten Agarwal recently organized a fundraiser in Houston for Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. The event, attended by billionaires John Nau, Rich and Nancy Kinder, and other donors, occurred just weeks before the March 5 Texas primaries. Haley, the former ambassador to the United Nations and a contender for the Republican nomination, arrived in Texas to bolster her campaign efforts. She scheduled a rally in Dallas, a meet and greet in San Antonio, and various fundraisers across the state.
During the fundraiser, a supporter questioned Haley about former President Trump’s comments regarding her husband’s military service. Haley, whose husband Michael is on active duty deployment, responded by acknowledging the nature of politics but emphasized the importance of respecting military personnel. She criticized Trump’s lack of military experience and his remarks regarding NATO commitments, highlighting the seriousness of such statements.
Additionally, Haley criticized Trump’s influence on the Republican National Committee (RNC), expressing concern about his attempts to control the party. She emphasized the need for the GOP to evolve and adapt to changing demographics and realities, asserting her independence from traditional party elites. Haley reaffirmed her commitment to her presidential campaign, outlining her priorities if elected, including support for veterans, education, the economy, foreign policy, and border security.
Agarwal, commenting on Haley’s prospects in the Texas primaries, noted her message of unity and strong leadership resonating with Texans. He emphasized the appeal of Haley’s vision for America and her ability to prioritize national interests over personal agendas, suggesting that she represents a promising choice for Texas Republicans seeking stability and effective leadership.
