On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to preside over the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony for the Ayodhya Ram temple. This seven-day consecration event, starting on Tuesday, will culminate in a grand ceremony attended by numerous VVIP guests. The construction of the Ram temple commenced after the Supreme Court resolved the long-standing dispute in November 2019.
Thirty-three years ago, Lal Krishna Advani initiated a rath yatra to build the temple, and among those accompanying him was Narendra Modi, now the Prime Minister. Advani expressed in an article his hope that Modi’s consecration of the temple would symbolize unity for all Indians and inspire them with the qualities of Lord Ram.
PM Modi, previously the general secretary of the Gujarat BJP, played a crucial role in organizing the yatra in 1990.In 2020, he took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Ram temple. Ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, Modi announced an 11-day anushthan (special ritual) last Friday.
Over the next seven days, intricate Hindu rituals will precede the main ceremony. The schedule includes the atonement ceremony, ‘Dashvidh’ bath on the banks of the Saryu river, Prayaschita, Karmakuti Poojan, Parisar Pravesh of the Ram Lalla idol, Teerth Poojan, Jal Yatra, Gandhadhivas, Aushadhadhivas, Kesaradhivas, Ghritadhivas, Dhanyadhivas, Sharkaradhivas, Phaladhivas, and Pushpadhivas rituals. The concluding day will witness the Madhyadhivas and Shaiyadhivas rituals.
