The second Voice of Global South Summit concluded, building on the momentum of the first summit and echoing the theme of the Indian philosophy ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’ Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra highlighted four key decisions implemented in the summit: Cooperation with Global South through the Arogya Maitri initiative, Global South Science and Tech, Global South Scholarship Program, and Global South Young Diplomat Forum.
During a special briefing, Kwatra emphasized that the summit, held under PM Modi’s leadership, focused on the theme ‘Together For Everyone’s Growth With Everyone’s Trust,’ aligning with India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’
PM Modi inaugurated the Global South Center of Excellence – DAKSHIN, a decision announced in the first summit. The Foreign Secretary outlined the top 10 priorities for Global South, including climate action, sustainable energy transition, food security, development financing, digital public infrastructure, reformed multilateralism, women-led development, global value chain integration, counter-terrorism cooperation, and the timely achievement of the 2030 agenda and its SDGs.
Vinay Kwatra explained that the Global South Centre of Excellence will serve as a think tank and a repository of knowledge, fostering collaboration among Global South countries. PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to Global South concerns during the Leaders’ Session, emphasizing building a collective future. The Prime Minister inaugurated DAKSHIN, a global center for excellence proposed during the first summit, showcasing India’s dedication to global collaboration and development initiatives.
