From October 19-20, 2023, Kerala is hosting a workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Digital Transformation, bringing together more than 42 officials from 13 state departments. These include the Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare, the State Goods and Service Tax, the Department of Rural Development, the Department of Dairy Development, the Police Department, and the State Digital Health Mission. The workshop aims to equip IT teams from various state departments with the knowledge and skills to implement cutting-edge technology initiatives in the state.
The National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, in collaboration with knowledge partners, is conducting these State Capacity Building Workshops under the Capacity Building Scheme. These workshops intend to demystify emerging technologies, highlighting their potential to improve service delivery and adapt policies and strategies to the digital landscape.
Ms. Nima Arora, Director of KSITM, stressed that the workshop will significantly impact how officers perform their daily tasks and help government officials identify the most suitable cutting-edge technologies for their departmental requirements.
Subject matter experts from the government and industry sectors are actively participating in interactive sessions during the workshop. They discuss state-specific challenges, real-world applications, tool demonstrations, and the transformation of ideas into pilot projects or proof of concepts.
These innovative workshops, initiated in August 2023, result from collaboration between the government and an industry consortium. They aim to leverage emerging technologies to enhance public service delivery, strengthen governance, and facilitate data-driven decision-making. Upcoming workshops in Kerala will focus on cloud computing and data-driven decision-making for government.
